I feel like I’ve always known the power of journaling. I’ve been doing it most of my adult life, I love to write things down and just love writing in general.
I wasn’t until a few years back where I really felt the power of journaling. I would write down all the things I want to let go of and also write down all the things I want in life.
It felt so good to get everything out of me and release it all. It felt so therapeutic.
A few years ago I wrote 28 journaling prompts to increase self love, and I still use them today. It was my most popular blog post and I realised how important journaling was for everyone.
So I’m going to go over some of the amazing benefits of journaling, how often you should journal and a few great places to find some awesome journaling prompts to help you get started.

The Power of Journaling: What are the Benefits of Journaling
Helps Release and Process Your Negative Thoughts
We have 70 thousand thoughts a day, and like 90% of them we aren’t conscious about. So it can be hard to process them with so much going through our minds. Writing things down helps you catch these thoughts, challenge them and process them.
Instead of just ignoring them, often when you start writing it all comes flooding out.
Which means you can deal with those negative thoughts better.
Understand Yourself Better
Another benefit of journaling is you get to know yourself better. It’s like having a conversation with yourself. Especially if you use journaling prompts for self discovery. We can sometimes forget to really get to know ourselves and what’s going on with us.
That’s why I love journaling for self discovery.
Gets us Into Creation Mode
You can also journal about all the things you want in life. You can script out how you want your life to look, including how you want your day to go or different events. If you like journaling in the evening or even morning, you can script out how your day will go. This is a great way to manifest what you want your life to look like.
Other things you can script out:
- Holiday’s you want to go on
- Dates you want to have
- Your self concept and how people treat you
- Getting your dream job or business
- Your health
- Your money story
- What you’re grateful for, even if it hasn’t happened yet
- Your ideal day
- How you feel about yourself and your life
- Your transformation or glow up

Gain Clarity of Your Thoughts and Beliefs
Journaling is such an amazing tool to get clarity on your thoughts and beliefs.
Like I said before, we have 70 thousands thoughts, it can be hard to know what our beliefs are.
That’s why journaling is so powerful. You can get clarity on where you are and do regular check-ins with yourself.
A good way to do this is to write down all your thoughts around the area of your life you’re trying to manifest.
Doing a brain dump like this can be so helpful. I find that once I start writing, loads of things come up for me that I wasn’t even aware of.
I try to do a check in like this every week or so.
The Power of Journaling: How Often Should you Journal?
So how often should you journal? I find that journaling every day is powerful for me.
However, if you’re new to journaling and that feels too much, maybe try doing it every other day.
Even journaling once a week is powerful. You may find you love it and want to do it every day anyway.
Do whatever feels good for you!!
