So, What are Limiting Beliefs?
Limiting beliefs are thoughts and ideas that we hold about ourselves and the world around us that restrict our potential for growth and success.
These beliefs can be rooted in past experiences, cultural or societal influences, or even self-talk. Recognizing and overcoming these limiting beliefs is crucial in order to achieve our goals and live a fulfilling life.
The majority of limiting beliefs were created in childhood, when we believed all that we are told. So our parents limiting beliefs are passed down to us.
How to Overcome Limiting Beliefs
Start with Awareness
One of the first steps to getting rid of limiting beliefs is to become aware of them. This means paying attention to our thoughts and emotions and identifying patterns of negative self-talk.
For example, if you find yourself constantly telling yourself that you’re not good enough or that you can’t do something, these are likely limiting beliefs.

Clearing Limiting Belief Techniques
Once you’ve identified these thoughts, it’s important to question their validity. Are they really true? Is there evidence to support them? Often, we find that our limiting beliefs are based on false assumptions or past experiences that no longer apply.
Another important step in overcoming limiting beliefs is to challenge them. This means actively refuting negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones.
For example, if you have a belief that you’re not good enough, you can challenge that belief by reminding yourself of your accomplishments and strengths. Create affirmations to challenge these beliefs.
Additionally, it’s helpful to surround yourself with supportive people who can provide encouragement and positive feedback.
It’s also important to take action towards your goals and aspirations, despite your limiting beliefs. This means taking small steps towards your goals, even if you’re feeling scared or uncertain.
By taking action, you will see that you are capable of achieving things that you previously thought were impossible.

Live in the Present Moment
Another important strategy for overcoming limiting beliefs is to focus on the present and the future, rather than dwelling on the past. This means letting go of regrets and past failures and instead focusing on what you can do today to move forward.
It’s also important to practice gratitude and appreciate the good things in your life. By focusing on what you have rather than what you lack, you will be able to see the world in a more positive light.
Finally, it’s important to practice self-compassion and be kind to yourself. This means acknowledging that it’s normal to have limiting beliefs and that it takes time and effort to overcome them. It’s important to be patient with yourself and to remember that progress, not perfection, is the goal.
Focus on What you Want to Remove Limiting Beliefs
Once you are aware of your limiting beliefs and started clearing them, it’s time to focus on what you want.
You can do this in a few ways, either write out what you want, or create affirmations based on your limiting beliefs. You can flip your negative thoughts to create these affirmations.
Then start to reprogram your mind by repeating these affirmations and new story as much as you can.
The trick is to saturate your mind with this new story!
We have 70 thousand thoughts a day, so make sure you focus on thoughts that are aligned with your desires as much as possible.
It doesn’t have to take a lot of time to change these beliefs, however, please be patient with yourself. Some beliefs take longer to reprogram than others. So if you aren’t seeing any changes in yourself or your world for a while, keep persisting…..it will change!!
