This story genuinely changed the way I spend my days!!!!
I’m currently doing this amazing challenge called The True Reflection Challenge and one of the questions Michelle asked was “Do you put your big rocks first”?
You may have heard the story about the professor who did a demonstration with a jar some rocks.
The video below explains the demonstration.
After hearing the story, all I could think about how I wasn’t focusing on my big rocks.
My big rocks are:
1. My health
2. My children
3. My partner
4. My writing
Of course I look after my partner and children but I realised I was just going through the motions. Not really enjoying every moment I could with them.
Almost like I was waiting for the kids to go to be so I could watch TV.
Or constantly on my phone while my partner is trying to talk to me.
Filling my whole life up with sand!!
I have so much time where I could be writing but I get so sucked into binge watching Netflix or playing Toy Blast on my phone.
Why has the sand become more important than my big rocks?
I started to realise that it is part of depression; I can’t have fun with my family, or be creative or have a healthy lifestyle. I’m not good enough to have that life.
But how hard is it to fully focus on having fun with your kids, or getting the art stuff out and being creative or having some sexy time with your man when you get a spare 5 minutes, instead of scrolling through Facebook.
So slowing I’m making little changes.
• Dancing around with the kids more
• Making healthy food from scratch when I have the time
• I’ve started writing a journal to get the creative juices going
• And making sure I’m showing my man just how much I love and appreciate him 😉
